I find that the search function works well. You need only remember a key word and it will find what you're looking for.
Sue Yes, I have used the search function and it's very easy and useful.

Yes, I have used the search function and it's very easy and useful. I promised to stay in the background, but just let me clarify: my point about the search function was that I felt it would be of little use to anyone who didn't know what was already written in some of the longer threads.

Geoff, the soapbox is a useful reality-check (corporate buzzword?) -- thanks for mounting it.
(Cue a joke from Barry.)

Gee, Sue - you've got a bus? Verbivore and his family of ancient Benzes will be delighted!

This is like one of those pub conversations between five people, where three are trying to have a sensible conversation but the two drunks keep making stupid jokes to each other and giggling uncontrollably. Unfortunately, I am usually one of those two drunks. I think Paul's acting as security on the Quick Language board to keep the drunks out, but allows them to participate on this board.

As a newcomer compared to most, I don't know what it was like on the APS board. I would probably have met you all there if you hadn't left a few days before I discovered it! (But I followed you here.)
I rather enjoy the rambling. My only problem (as I have mentioned previously), is that I often don't notice when I'm in the quick questions, and so may not be quick and to the point while I am there. (I'm trying to pay more attention, though.) In principle I think it's a good thing to have the two separate parts - but I can't seem to get it right!

Gee, Sue - you've got a bus? Actually, my first car was affectionately nicknamed Blunderbus! It was an ancient Wolseley 15/60 that was painted forty shades of grey. I bought it for £75 from the garage next door to which I was living at the time. The man said that it did. indeed, have an engine, but he wanted it off his forecourt as fast as possible because it was so ugly that it would put off potential customers, and if I wanted it I'd better make up my mind straight away. When you hit a wall in it, the wall fell down, but the car looked no different. We had amazing adventures together, that car and I, till, when I was leaving for Sweden, I gave it to my brother, who drove it the rest of the way into the ground and finally paid someone to come and collect it for scrap. A couple of months later, he saw it driving down the road ... Ah, those were the days! Sue

[...] Ah, those were the days! Sue Indeed, Sue - when cars were made from real steel, not plastic.

No one's going to stop you posting and Paul is pretty good add cleaning up the QLQ board when needed. Indeed, to be somewhat sycophantic, the administration of the board is excellent and generally unnoticed, which is how it should be. So, thanks, Paul.

And there's something very messianic about being able to close down an entire thread with the phrase "locked for length"!
