Was that all of us posting near-simultaneously (within 50 minutes)? Evening dinnertime in eastern AU. Must be about morning tea time in the UK?
All well and sane, I hope. Avoid covidiots.

You could have written that PS for me, Verbivore, excluding the headmaster bit of course, but including the Black Dog part.
I enjoy watching quiz shows, but the Contessa's forever telling me to calm down when youngish contestants state that a question involves something that was "before my time". For Christ's sake, the Battle of Hastings and the Siege of Troy were before my time but I've damned well heard of them!

Ah, but Twod, the Battle of Hastings and the Siege of Troy aren't on Fakebook, Twitter, or TikTok so they don't exist.

A new word: ampelographer
I came across it in this morning's news about grape varieties in AU.
ampelographer | ˌampəˈlɒɡrəfə
noun
an expert in the study and classification of cultivated varieties of grape.
ORIGIN late 19th century: via French from Greek ampelos ‘vine’ + -grapher.
ampelography | æmpɪˈlɒgrəfɪ
[a. mod.Fr. ampélographie, f. Gr. ἄµπελ-ος vine + -γραϕία: see -graphy.]
The scientific description of the vine.
1879 in Syd. Soc. Lex.

Does that not apply only to the USA's Mother's Day? I maintain that the "European" Mothers' Day - Mothering Sunday, the fourth Sunday in Lent - honours all mothers, not just one's own. The article touches on Mothering Sunday but fails to convince me that it's a day for the celebration of only one mother.

Here's an important message about Covid-19 from the UK's (suddenly bald) Prime Minister. (Authorised by his boss, Mr DJ Trump, of course.)

I've always taken the approach that if referring to the day of one mother, then Mother's Day, but if referring to a worldwide phenomenon then Mothers' Day. One could also follow the example of Reader's Digest's title and use the "singular" as exemplar. In my family situation, it's Mothers' Day because I had two: Mater and Mum.

Here's an important message about Covid-19 from the UK's (suddenly bald) Prime Minister. (Authorised by his boss, Mr DJ Trump, of course.) Excellent! Thanks, Twod, for my evening chuckle. Watched it numerous times & still chuckling...genius!!! realmattlucas @realmattlucasYou need to have your head reattached. Why do we have to be governed by f---wits like Boris and Trump! Give me Angela Merkel and Jacinda Ardern for world leaders! Perhaps women make better and more compassionate leaders. Oh, wait a minute though: Margaret Thatcher and Teresa May?

In a YouTube video on a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, the presenter / salesman was no doubt trying to make a point. “[…] it stands on its own.
“This car is very unique […] it was a bespoke order making it one of one […].”All within three breaths. The car must be bloody unique. ('Tis, rather.) Oh deary me. More trivia to gripe about.
