I often hear ee-moo on US-origin programs, but firmly resist that pronunciation of our national big bird. It’s eem-you. Now it’s made international headlines. The emu has dropped its yod!
The bird is not impressed!

Sometimes metaphor can go too far.Warning! Cannabis extract causes transmogrification: elephant to guinea pig! If the zoo expands its experiment to the other animals will they also become guinea pigs? A whole zoo full of guinea-pigs! Yikes! “If the experiment is successful, Warsaw Zoo plans to expand the project and feed the oil to other stressed animals, including rhinos and bears.
“In the meantime, an elephant will be the first guinea pig.”

Vv’s post about elephants becoming guinea pigs reminds me of a recent visit to South Africa when I saw rock hyraxes living among the rocks on a sea shore. They are little, rabbit-like creatures one might at first confuse with guinea pigs but some of their nearest mammalian relatives are indeed elephants.
