You can say what you like, Paul, but I don't say Thomasiz, I say Thomas'. I say it quite a lot since I have a close relative called Thomas!
Even if I could learn to say the extra syllable, I can't imagine myself managing to utter "Jesusiz" and I'd then have to start deciding whether to add the extra syllable or not. At the moment, I seem to have it all sorted.
By the way, how do you get single inverted commas - I have only double ones.

I can't imagine myself managing to utter "Jesusiz" That's just what I do say on the rare occasion I need the possessive of Jesus. As for the single quotes, I use apostrophes!

On keyboards, the double quote key is actually an inch mark, and the apostrophe/single quote key is a foot mark.

Priceless, Mands, priceless! I shall add it to my collection forthwith. Can you remember who delivered the line? ;D (Incidentally, as you're now 'amanda' on this forum, do you prefer this handle, or do you want to be 'Mands?' as before?) Barry, I just can't think who said it. I want to say Eileen, but I can't be sure. I think I had better assume my grown-up name on this forum, for if I ever manage to get a picture on my profile I will be revealed as a haggard old bat.

Amanda, I'm quite sure that you are not a haggard old bat nor even a battered old hag for that matter. Let's see your pic, madam, to remove all uncertainty. ;D (Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?.)

"eyes like rissoles in the sand"But more evocative was the line in "Get Carter": "Like pissoles in the snow" Mands, I will be revealed as a haggard old batThat would be like Rider's "She" at the end, then? (Apologies if I've got the wrong film/book. ) Tone

Tone,
I think that that's what Dylan was alluding to. The phrase 'like piss-holes in the snow' has surely been around for a long time, and Mr Thomas, no stranger to the coarser side of life, would have been aware of the saying - hence his rather subtle swerve on it ...
