I know that I need an apostrophe for "two weeks' notice", but what about "a week's worth of medication" or "a month's worth of newspapers"? (since week and month are singular)
[Title changed to more accurately reflect the subject. pd.]

I would agree that an apostrophe is needed in your examples. Have a look at the thread called "worth", too, as it is about the use of "worth" in this context.

what about "a week's worth of medication" or "a month's worth of newspapers"? (since week and month are singular) Well, we SAY the "s", so our choices work like this: a month worth of newspapers - doesn't reflect what we say, so can't be right a months worth of newspapers - doesn't make sense (months is plural, so you can't have "a" months) a months' worth of newspapers - doesn't make sense (months' means "of plural months", so you can't have "a" months') So, that leaves us with: a month's worth of newspapers - which makes sense as "newspapers for a month")
