Yeah! I have a Sony Ericsson, W810i. It's old, but it the best phone I've ever had, its got all the normal features, 1g memory card (I can buy bigger memory cards.) And a 2.0 mega pixel camera, and the lens got smashed (not my fault *cough, cough*) but the camera still works fine not a scratch on the picture at all! But best of all it has a built in Walkman music player! Which I use everywhere! And I can but my songs in play lists and order them and shuffle and everything! And the phone only cost me £45! Well it has its flaws like the camera being smash, and the back has been celetaped on ;D and the screens a bit scratched, but that's just my faults of not looking after it! I don't see why people spend £100s on Nanos and things that arn't that good! (no offense to anyone who do buy these things, or have a Nano, Pete... )

>the lens got smashed (not my fault *cough, cough*) but the camera still works fine <I may be ignorant about these technical things (I just use a 'phone for 'phone calls), but surely a "lens" is an integral and totally necessary part of a "camera". So how can a camera work "just fine" with a smashed lens? Tone P.S. I can't avoid >celetaped<.

Actually, I won it at our work annual conference last October (before they sacked me ). And it does have back and forward keys, but it's not like a full-scale iPod where I can choose specific songs directly.

Hallelujah is just lovely, Frankie. Thank you. Your welcome! I first heard this song on the movie Shrek and loved it ever since! [...] Did anyone see The Apprentice1 this week? The winning team was rewarded by a private recital by an opera singer (I'm afraid I didn't catch her name). They showed a short shot of them listening to her. The song? Hallelujah! 1 Those in the UK, of course.

Oh! My pictures are fine thank you! And Tone that is what I'm trying to say! Even though it has a smashed lens it still works perfectly because it's such a good phone. Plus it's white and orange which just makes it cool in every way! ;D Oh, and sorry I couldn't spell Sellotape I thought it had a 'C' not an 'S'.

Or, to ask the question another way*, what did the lens do when it wasn't smashed? * Once a scientist, always a scientist!

Or, to ask the question another way, what did the lens do when it wasn't smashed? It was more coherent! ;D

Oh, It works and focuses the same as it always did even before the lens smashed.

I don't think scientists (or engineers) would accept that both: a) it works as a camera, and b) the lens is smashed, can apply. One or t'other must be either a misjudgement of the situation or a way of using words that is somewhat different.

Tone But as a scientist I would be happy to carry out the empirical experiment and then try and explain the results. Is it possible that it is not the lens that has smashed but a plastic cover or protective sheet?

My own thoughts, concerning the issue under discussion, had a similarity of content, there.

Tone And mine! I'm sure that Frankie means the lens cover is smashed. On a mobile phone it's sometiemes tricky to distinguish between the parts as they are all so tiny! Other than that, it often says on the little plastic/glass circle that it's " X x 4 xef etc. type lens" - this may also cause confusion. The phone in question, I had a few years back. It is quite a good walkman phone and has good quality Sony earphones. Not bad for £45, Frankie, I hope you look after your next one a bit better. There's a new Sony out for £5! (and one for £20, a bit better) PAYG with no contract!

Ok, Ok. I give in already! ;D I don't know if it's the lens or not but I tried to take the plastic cover thing off and it didn't work, and then I broke it more because I made another crack but oh well. I can't find the phone you're on about Vadim, where did you see it? I think I need a new one now! Anyway, back to song lyrics...
