You're all most welcome. Sue, stop thrashing about with Gay Abandon!

And it's nice to see so many familiar names and the odd new one -- welcome, Pete.

Hi everyone. I'll just put my ornaments on the shelf, unpack my clothes, and switch the heating on. That's better - now at home. Thanks, Paul, for setting up the squat! Barry

Oh dear. I've set up my account, but I note I'm in lower case in this forum. Oh well, so be it ...

Ta-dah!
Now capitalised/capitalized. And with added website. Jolly good.
Fanks a million, Paul. I like it here (for one thing, the type-face in the preview messages isn't dreary old Courier). And all those effects without the tiresome need for brackets. [glow=red,2,300]Woweee![/glow]. And super/subscripts, bullets and tables too. Oh, I shall enjoy it here (although I shall be sad to see the loss of Tone's revolving smiley!).

Did it on another thread that I came upon first, but here's another "Well done, Paul" from me.
If the first day's action is anything to go by, I expect we'll see all the regulars - the backbone, as it were - of the APS forum over here in no time flat.
Doesn't augur well for the APS board, as one can spend only so much time online (especially when one has numerous other forums to deal with and moderate).

Some fat old git with a cheap digital camera! Not flattering, but it's the best one I have to hand that's clean

Well, I get the impression that John R would like his board to just be a place where people can ask apostrophe questions and get the "right" answer. Just that, nothing else.
Kind of makes sense after all, given that he (got John H to) set up a website to lay down the law about apostrophes.
But who will answer the questions? Unless he does it himself (which he's mostly shown no sign of doing) the answers surely won't always toe the party line?
It could be fine, though, and I hope it is. No doubt many/most/all of us will still loiter there.

Vv, My humble and heartfelt apologies. Your -1 Karma is down to me - I wasn't sure what the links Exalt/Smite were for, and it was only when I clicked one (Smite, in this case), that I realised. I tried to redress it, but the systme won't let me for an hour. I shall light a joss stick or something to beef up your Karma in the interim!

Barry: Thanks for the explanation / confession. I did wonder how I'd managed to acquire negative karma so soon after joining! Now I know that I was smote / smitten / smited / smut ... (by accident, of course!). Nothing wrong with the occasional smutting smiting, I suppose. ;D Paul: Thank you for restoring my karma. ;D I suppose everyone's heard that one about the Buddhist whose karma ran over the bishop's dogma.

Paul: I can't seem to get the website icon to appear under my avatar. I notice that Barry has his visible and linked.
Do I need to tick something I've missed in my profile? I've entered the URL and site name (but have set my e-mail to hidden). Does a hidden e-mail address also cause a URL to hide?
