Well, you all seem to be happy bunnies over here now! That's good, I think I will take it easy and put my feet up as there will be little to do over at the APS Board, according to what you say!
Seriously, John R 'owns' the APS and, while I am happy to run the website I set up for his 'Society' (plus its Message Forum), I am privately sorry that he has made the decision to restrict the Forum to matters about the apostrophe only. A good community had evolved and had produced many interesting threads for discussion which I hope will continue here. I may even contribute a word or two myself from time to time!
The 'bottom line' is that the APS website and Forum must be run the way John R wants it and I will continue to do that as long as he wishes me to.
Best wishes to all past APS forum folk - please drop back to see us every now and then - if only to help answer some of the apostrophe queries we are sure to continue to get!

I've got somewhat out of practice so shall have to dust down the old brain box if I'm to keep up with the erudite posts that I've read here. If I wasn't aware of your incredible modesty, I'd suspect you of sarcasm, Dr Mildr! I'm so glad you've joined us here and hope you will visit often. Sue

Ah, John H, you've turned up too! How nice to see you. It's really getting like old times. We just need Dave (U.S.), Glyn (I am stopping the list here, as it was getting far too long in my head!) and a few others and we shall all feel perfectly at home.
I, too, was a little disappointed that John R. has taken such a strict line, but then he seems to about most things. Perhaps it was inevitable as, for the rest of us, the longer we visited the forum, the farther we strayed from the darling apostrophe. I hope he knows that we all still care passionately about it.

John R. has taken such a strict line, but then he seems to about most things. Anyone for a "Strictly fly-tipping" forum? Tone

I'm confused - I posted my first response, and had to figure out how to do italics etc.
They didn't all work, so when I returned to ask why, I had a box appear with lots of gizmos to edit the new posting.
How come it showed the second time, but not the first ?

That's the difference between "reply" and "Quick Reply".
